As more and more condo board directors and property managers are starting to realize, poor, ineffective communication in a condo will sooner or later end up costing the condo corporation money. A condo environment is one of the most important places where it’s important to get communication done just right, yet many a condo lags behind the times.
Partly due to technology changes, but mostly because a communication strategy is not within the scope of a property management contract, the benefits of good communication often get overlooked.
Two of my favourite lawyers comment on Communication and the Condo. The first is Sonja Hodis; she cites some case law.
Next is Marc Bhalla of Elia Associates (okay technically he works for one of my favourite lawyers – Patricia Elia – but he’s a mediator so has communication down pat.) He stresses the importance of educating condo owners.
