AGMs are a very important part of condo life. They are politics in motion as owners come together to hear the “state of the building” address, cast a ballot for a favourite board candidate, ask questions and more.
It’s often surprising then, how often residents miss the opportunity to attend, deliberately don’t participate, or even worse – don’t even know what it is.
If your Board has trouble meeting quorum, a campaign will help (and of course campaigns work best on a digital elevator screen – yes even in short buildings!) Be sure to include:
Some residents, (especially new owners) may not know the meanings of words like quorum and proxy. Be sure to include this – in large and simple terms.
People like to know why they are being asked to do something and when you explain the reasons, you get better buy-in, especially from millennials. So if you have lots of young folks at your building, keep that in mind.
As you receive proxies, be sure to let residents know that! Countdowns are an effective way to keep residents in the loop so if you’re running short on proxies you can find yourself that last minute AGM rescuer! This case study says it better than I can.
We’ve finally found a good use for QR codes! If you need to Google it, you already know why. Seriously though, QR codes on a digital screen are a great way to engage residents, especially when used in conjunction with an online voting service.
